Tile, Pottery, and Eastern Oregon Links
Tile How-Tos If you are installing tile for the first time, or even if you're a pro, there's some great information out there to help make the process easier. Here's a few of my favorite sites for tile installation tips and technical advice:
- John Bridge Ceramic Tile Forums. These guys know everything!
- DIY Network has a whole section of their site devoted to tile.
- Tile Council of America Really technical infomation. If you need that kind of thing, this is the place to go.
Clay Suppliers Making pottery and ceramic tiles by hand requires a lot of raw material. Here's some of my favorite suppliers:
- Seattle Pottery Supply They have everything under the sun, fast shipping, and good prices.
- IMCO- Industrial Mineral Company in Sacramento. Nice folks, and it doesn't hurt that they are located right next door to the historical Frasinetti winery- the oldest and only remaining winery in the city of Sacramento.
- Clayplanet in San Jose. Great clay!
- Ceramics Today is an online magazine covering all aspects of ceramics and pottery. Great archive of articles and a huge links database.
Eastern Oregon is a great place to live and work. Here's a couple of sites that can give you an idea of the majestic scenery and the small-town flavor:
- Mules Across America: Local author and publisher Jody Foss spins tales of her adventures on mules.
- John Day Fossil Beds. There's some serious history and geology here!
- USDA Forest Service. This site gives up to date information on the location of forest fires, including satellite maps.
- Interactive Geological Map of Oregon. This is so cool!
